BIKE 4 PEACE, Sept. 24!
One of the best events of the year is less than a month away! In celebration of HI USA’s global Sleep for Peace Program, we are gearing up for our bike-in movie night, ‘peace ride,’ and fiesta on Saturday, September 24 from 4-10pm. The ‘Rose City Peace Ride’ will kick off the event starting at 4-6pm. Come along for this free guided bike ride that will begin at HI Portland Northwest downtown (425 NW 18th Ave.), and cross Tilikum Crossing Bridge before arriving at HI Portland Hawthorne. Riders can then relax with fiesta food, beats by DJ Anjali–Portland’s 2016 DJ of the Year– and film screening of ‘Rising from Ashes,’ an award winning documentary about the first Rwandan national cycling team. This film was chosen because it celebrates the bicycle and ‘cycling’ as a widely accessible, easily transportable, rapidly disseminated and universal engine of both economic and personal empowerment. We will provide food for all types of eaters, refreshments, and raffle prizes, too! Peace flags and wearing blue clothing and illuminations is highly encouraged. This event is free and open to the public, so feel free to invite your friends! We look forward to seeing you there.
