Meet Leah!

Leah has joined us from HI-Madison after completing a degree in Community and Environmental Sociology. She is looking forward to taking over the hostel blogging, meeting people from around the world, and learning about the great city of Portland!Leah

Reason I moved here: To be united with my boyfriend and to enjoy the beautiful mountains and ocean.
What else do I do?: Hike, cook delicious backpacking meals, play with my puppy, volunteer with refugees, rollerblade with style
Places I’ve traveled to: ~25 countries, some favorites are Peru, Cambodia, South Africa, Colombia, anywhere in the Andes
Favorite mode of travel: Train, bike, and my two feet
Favorite places I’ve visited: Salar de Uyuni, Patagonia, Cambodia
What I like most about Portland: Food cart community, it’s proximity to nature, people watching
What I like least about Portland: 
Slow, dangerously friendly drivers
Favorite Coffee Shop:  Water Avenue
Favorite Place To Be Outdoors: Thousand Acre dog park, The Gorge, parks in Southeast
Favorite Nightspot: Cascade Brewing Barrel House
Favorite Breakfast Spot: Off the Waffle
Favorite Restaurant and/or Food Cart: Pok Pok even though it’s famous, and Ingrid’s Scandinavian Food
Favorite Place to Get out of the Rain:  Tea Room at Lan Su Chinese Garden
