Saying Goodbye

I hate saying goodbye. Leaving people and places you love, knowing you probably won’t make it back to visit, that’s kind of the life of a vagabond. You settle in, create roots, then head on somewhere else. I’ve done it so many times, but still have a hard time getting used to it.

I’ve lived in Portland for over 2 years now, and have been at this hostel for about the same amount of time. I’m going to miss Portland’s zaniness–especially the guests!–the beautiful trees and mountains and access to alternative food and way of thinking and doing, but ach, enough with the mushy emotional stuff. Words don’t do my emotions justice. Better to describe with pictures and my recent blog post.

Bon voyage, Hawthorne Hostel and Portland! You’ve been good to me, and I will never forget you for it. You were the first place that felt like home.
