Staff Retreat: Long Beach, WA

We have just came back from our staff retreat to the Oregon/Washington Coast. After a pretty busy season–which technically still isn’t over. We’re still pretty full every night!–we needed some R&R, so Talbot and Shawn planned a nice little getaway up north to a little area just outside of Astoria on the other side of the Columbia River, just off the shore of the Pacific Ocean where Lewis and Clark ended their epic 2 year trip: Cape Disappointment.

It was anything but. We stayed in a quaint little cabin not far out of town and ventured into Astoria and Long Beach, WA for some fun and food. We peaked at the Maritime Musem–squee!– went to the Astoria Column and glanced at the Goonie house. Then we headed to Waikiki Beach–heaven for this beach bum– spent some time hiking to the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse┬á and enjoyed the local brew scene.

The weather held pretty well, though it was cold, only raining heavily after we retired to bed–thank God! Otherwise, it would have put a damper on our fire pit. No pun intended. čśë

Otherwise, it was a good trip and a great way to bond with the work mates before saying goodbye–but more about that later. Always fun adventuring with these folk and seeing some more of what makes Oregon–and Washington, er, the Northwest so beautiful.
