Mt Hood boasts almost six ski resorts!
Mt Hood is Oregon’s number #1 winter destination with 3 major and 3 smaller ski areas to chose from.
1-SkiBowl (www.skibowl) is America’s largest night skiing area and is also the best bargain that is the closest to Portland. SkiBowl turns into an adventure park in the summer with an alpine slide, bungy jumping, go karts, mini golf, and mountain biking.
2-Timberline Lodge (www.timberlinelodge.com) is not only the highest ski resort on the mountain that is open year round (that’s right, you can ski on Palmer glacier most of the summer), but it also is the famous lodge featured in the movie “the Shining.”
3-Mt. Hood Meadows (www.skihood.com) is a bit further from Portland, but worth the drive with the largest and most varied terrain on Mt. Hood.
The other ski areas : Snow Bunny and Summit and are close to the small village of Government Camp and much smaller that the first three. Cooper Spur is a smaller family-friendly ski resort on back side of the mountain.
