The Bagdad Theater and Pub
The Hostel located in the Hawthorne District, known for its wonderful restored Old Portland homes, liberal residents, and fun and funky feel. The street is lined with unique restaurants and shops, and has a definite Portland-local flair.
Mt. Hood
Mt. Hood (11,249 feet tall) is only about an hour drive from the hostel with abundant recreational opportunities like hiking, skiing, snowboarding, and even an adventure park in the summer!

Hawthorne Hostel Rainwater Demonstration ProjectIn 2008, the Hawthorne Hostel received substantial funding from the Bureau of Environmental Services (City of Portland) to build a rainwater harvesting system. Special Event: A Peaceful Evening…
Join The Consortium of Fellow Adventurers and Hostelling International USA for a pleasant evening featuring the world-acclaimed documentary “Peace One Day”. We welcome you to a thought-provoking evening of film and discussion. Through this special event, we look forward to encouraging awareness of September 21 st, the International Day of Peace. This event is open to all and is free. The Portland Hawthorne Hostel will be raffling off gifts to thank you for your participation.
